The project „Reconstruction of road Karksi-Nuia – Seda river“ has finished
The project „Reconstruction of road Karksi-Nuia – Seda river“, which was funded from Estonia-Latvia Programme will be finished in October 2011. The Estonian partner has already accepted their road section on 29th of September 2011 – the joint opening ceremony is planned to happen on Estonian-Latvian border at 12.00 on 17th of October 2011. After the funding problems, appeared at the beginning of the project, this project has been spectacular, with no serious problems and obstacles.
During the project, the cross-border road from Karksi-Nuia to Ruhja (Rūjiena) was reconstructed – the road sections from Karksi-Nuia – Lilli – Estonian border (state road no 54) and Seda river – Ruhja (Rūjiena) (state road P17) got hard layered cover. Reconstruction works were done by joint group, where belonged Valga Teed OÜ, Rapla Teed OÜ, Põlva Teed OÜ and Kolm Teed OÜ and the owner supervision was implemented by Taalri Varahaldus OÜ. General project coordination was organized by Advisio OÜ.
Project partners were The Estonian Road Administration (former name The Road Administration of the Western Region of Estonia) and from Latvia the Ministry of Transport, who’s representative was Latvian State Roads (State Joint Stock Company). Project was founded from Estonia-Latvia Programme, under the priority 1 “Increased cohesion of the Programme area” direction of support 1.1. “Reducing isolation through improved internal and external connectivity of the Programme area”. The project objective was to decrease the physical barrier between two states by reconstruction the before mentioned road. Project team is sure, that thanks to the project the local people life quality improved a lot.
For the result of the project 14 km of dust-free road was built in Estonia and 7,8 km in Latvia. In addition Latvian’s upgraded 6,4 km of old asphalt road. The project budget was 3 194 786,60 EUR, from which 2 715 568,51 EUR (85%) was covered by ERF.
